No competitions are organised by the NZNPS, but support is readily given to any
members who wish to compete with their pipes. Nicole Buxeda and Frances Cook
have both won Martin Blackman Young Performer Awards at Auckland Folk Festival,
Nicole (junior) in 2004, Frances (senior) in 2004 and 2005.
Val Smith visited
Northumberland and won the Novice section of the Newcastleton competitions.
Helen Capes was awarded life membership of the British Northumbrian Pipers'
Society in 2000 for her work in New Zealand promoting the playing of the pipes.
